Zard Foundation Establishes an International School in Ibadan

The sound corporate social responsibility of the Zard’s family, who arrived in Nigeria in the 1930’s is not in question. Recently such commitment to the local community in Ibadan became more manifest with the establishment in 2003 of the Ibadan International School. The initial venture of the Zard’s family into the Nigerian business climate was in the agricultural sector, having held sway in the cocoa marketing trade for a considerable period of time. It is therefore not surprising that members of the family are well-known to most farmers in Ibadan and its environs.

The International School in Ibadan is operated as a social venture and has been promoting understanding and healthy interaction among children from various nationalities, whose parents are expatriates in Nigeria.  

Owing to the pre-occupation of the Zard’s family in promoting socio-economic development of Nigeria, the patriarch of the family, Mr. William Zard Abou Jaoude has graciously accepted to be the pioneer Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the newly established Lebanese-Nigerian Friendship Association in Lebanon. The family is also sponsoring numerous University scholarship awards for Nigerians.

مؤسسة زرد تنشأ مدرسة دولية في ايبادان:

ركزت أسرة زرد، منذ وصولها إلى نيجيريا في سنة 1930، على القضايا الاجتماعية، وتجلى التزام الأسرة للمجتمع المحلى بمدينة إيبادان النيجيرية بوضوح فى عام 2003،عند تأسيس مدرسة ايبادان الدولية. وتجدر الإشارة إلى أنّ عائلة زرد اهتمت في بادئ الأمر بالقطاع الزراعي في نيجيريا، بعد انشغالها لمدة طويلة بسوق الكاكاو. فأصبح العديد من أفراد هذه الأسرة مشهورين بين مزارعي ايبادان والمدن المجاورة لها.

وتعمل المدرسة الدولية في ايبادان كمؤسسة اجتماعية تسعى لنشر التفاهم والتفاعل الاجتماعي بين التلاميذ العائدين للخبراء والمغتربين المقيمين بنيجيريا.

تماشياً مع رغبة فى تعزيز التنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية لنيجيريا ولننان قام السيد وليم زرد أبو جوده بوصفه رئيس عائلة زرد بدور قيامه فى جمعية الصداقة اللبنانية النيجيرية حيث انه تسلم منصب رئيس الأمناء لجمعية وهذا بالإضافة إلى دور آل زرد المشكوربتخصيص المنح الدراسية لمواطنين نيجيريين.
