Lebanese Nigerian Friendship Association (LENIFRA) Inaugurated in Beirut

The age-old friendship existing between Nigerians and Lebanese since the first recorded visit of the Lebanese citizen to Nigeria in 1890 has been further consolidated by the establishment of the Lebanese-Nigerian Friendship Association (LENIFRA) in Beirut, Lebanon.

Having secured registration of the Lebanese Ministry of Interior under Registration No. 272/AD, it proceeded with the inauguration of the Association in a colourful ceremony held at the UNESCO Building in
Beirut on 20 October 2007.

Board of Trustees of the Association

 The three-pronged objectives of the Association are to promote friendship and understanding through regular contacts between Nigerian and Lebanese peoples; to showcase the socio-cultural heritage of Lebanon and Nigeria; and to catalyse positive relations between the public and private sectors of both countries.

The following distinguished members of the Lebanese Nigerian community have been elected to serve as members of the Board of Trustees of the Association for a period of five years:

     -     Mitchel Atrib         

     -     Mohammed Hassan Fadlallah 

     -     Baheej Ghreizy             

   -     Essam Moukarem

   -     Georges Nabhan

   -     Jawad Roda

   -     Hani Safieddine
 
   -     Joseph Taktouk

The current Chairman of the Board of Trustees is Mr. William Zard Abou Jaoude, while Mr. Essam Moukarem is the Vice Chairman. The chairmanship and vice chairmanship of the BoT will rotate every six months among its members.

افتتاح جمعية الصداقة اللبنانية النيجيرية LENIFRA  في بيروت :

وتعزيزا للصداقة القائمة بين اللبنانيين والنيجيرين منذ قدوم المواطن اللبناني الأول إلى نيجيريا فى سنة 1890، تم تأسيس جمعية الصداقة اللبنانية النيجيرية في بيروت، لبنان. وبعد الحصول على العلم والخبر من وزارة الداخلية اللبنانية تحت الرقم 272/أد، تمّ افتتاح الجمعية في حفل رسمي في مبنى الأونيسكو في بيروت، بتاريخ 20 تشرين الأول

وتهدف هذه الجمعية إلى تعزيز علاقات الصداقة والتفاهم بين الشعبين النيجيري       واللبناني، وكذلك إحياء التراث الاجتماعي والثقافي في لبنان ونيجيريا، إضافةً إلى تشجيع  العلاقات الإيجابية بين القطاعات الخاصة والعامة في البلدين.

  مجلس أمناء الجامعة:

 ولقد تم انتخاب أعضاء مجلس أمناء الجمعية التالية أسمائهم من ابرز أعضاء الجالية اللبنانية النيجيرية لمدة خمس سنوات وهم:

    والجدير بالذكر ان السيد وليم زرد أبو جوده هو رئيس مجلس الأمناء، والسيد
 عصام مكارم هو نائب الرئيس ويتداول منصبي الرئيس ونائب الرئيس
 بين كافة أعضاء مجلس الأمناء كل ستة أشهر.
